The Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF) received 10% of the geopromotion service Pointer LLC as part of a deal to buy the company from its founders for 200 million rubles, RB.RU reported. The deal closed on November 22.

At the same time, the share of IIDF’s portfolio company, document management service Doxinbox LLC (brand DocsInBox), decreased to 90%.

As the fund explained to RB.RU, the share was transferred to it as part of an agreement to acquire 100% of Pointer from its founders. For these purposes, the IIDF allocated 200 million rubles to its holding company DocsInBox.

“In accordance with the dividend investment strategy, the IIDF recently allocated a loan of 200 million rubles to its portfolio company DocsInBox for the purchase of the local marketing and geopromotion service Pointer. As part of the agreement, the IIDF received 10% of Pointer,” the fund explained to RB.RU.

  • DocsInBox purchased the Pointer company, which is dedicated to local marketing and geopromotion, on October 11, 2024, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. Doxinbox LLC became the owner of a 100% interest in Pointer LLC. The sellers were the founders Artem Efremov (owned 44.59%), Olga Bolotova and Maria Niggol (both owned 22.29%).
  • In June, Doxinbox acquired 10.8% of Pointer, previously owned by the ISLA fund (owned by TilTech).
  • As a result of two transactions, the company became the owner of 100% of Pointer, but on November 22, it transferred 10% to the IIDF, which provided it with a loan of 200 million rubles.

According to the IIDF representative, both DocsInBox and Pointer are growing dynamically and have good dividends and synergistic potential, and DocsInBox demonstrates the ability to scale well and will be able to apply its experience to scale the business of the acquired company.

“DocsInBox approved the IIDF Accelerator in 2016 and received investments worth 2.1 million rubles. In 2017 and 2018, the startup received financing from the seed mini-fund in the total amount of 15 million rubles. The fund’s stake in the company is 26.61%,” the fund reported to RB.RU.

Puntero was founded in 2019. The service allows businesses to maintain up-to-date information about themselves in geoservices, automate work with reviews, attract customers from online maps and search engines, and increase ratings and reputation. The company’s revenue in 2023 increased by 1.5 times to 166.2 million rubles, net profit amounted to 39.8 million rubles.

DocsInBox automates document flow between restaurants and suppliers. The main areas of business, in addition to electronic document management, are working with invoices, alcohol accounting and labeling of goods. The project began operation in 2015. The company’s revenue in 2023 increased 1.7 times, up to 683 million rubles, net profit reached 285 million rubles. In addition to IIDF, the company is owned by Leonid Dovbenko (25.7%), Stanislav Seleznev (21%), JSC Investplus (17.6%), Evgeny Lebedev (9.1%).

IIDF is Russia’s largest venture fund for IT startups. According to the fund, its volume is 6 billion rubles. The portfolio includes companies such as Pravo tech, Brandquad, Aimoto, Ubic and others.
