Anthropic stated that MCP is open to all kinds of artificial intelligence models, not just the Claude family. The new standard for connecting AI assistants to systems that store data will allow them to process information faster and produce relevant results.
MCP supports the creation of two-way connections between data sources and AI-powered applications such as chatbots and the like. Developers will be able to expose data through “MCP servers” and create “MCP clients” (applications and workflows that connect to these servers by command).
“As AI assistants become more commonplace, the industry is investing heavily in improving model capabilities, making rapid progress in logic and quality. But even the most complex models are limited by data isolation, locked in data silos and legacy systems. Each new data source requires its own implementation, really makes it difficult to scale interconnected systems,” Anthropic said in a blog post.
