This model follows last year’s RTX 4090D, which was designed to bypass US export restrictions on high-end GPUs.

Like its predecessor, the RTX 5090D has dropped features like a reduced core count and lower power consumption, but maintains overclockability, making its performance comparable to the regular RTX 4090.

The special edition RTX 5090D is expected to be released before the end of January 2025, when the Chinese Year of the Dragon will end.

The graphics card is not intended for the global market and will not be available in some other countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE and Vietnam.

Such measures by NVIDIA are associated with sanctions limiting technology exports to China.
