Amazon has created generative artificial intelligence that can process images and videos, sources told The Information. According to them, this will allow the company to reduce its dependence on the AI startup Anthropic, in which it has already invested $8 billion.

A new large language model, codenamed Olympus, can recognize the content of images and videos and search for specific fragments or frames in them, the publication writes.
Amazon could announce Olympus next week at the annual AWS re:Invent conference, added one of The Information’s interlocutors. The event is scheduled for December 2-6.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by people at OpenAI. The company is developing a chatbot called Claude, a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. In addition to Amazon, Google, Spark Capital, Salesforce Ventures and other companies have invested in Anthropic.
