SberMarket plans to launch its own food delivery service from restaurants and cafes. There is no complete information on the model of the new delivery service yet.

SberMarket decided to start delivering food from restaurants

At first, the project can be launched according to the market model. The bank can use the Delivery Club database for its own purposes, Kommersant learned from the sources.

One Story partner Olga Sumishevskaya suggested that Sber decided to launch its own delivery service, as existing agreements with VK under the joint venture could prevent 100% ownership of Delivery Club.

SberMarket has more than 2 million active users of the service application, Yandex.Food has 5.5 million, and Delivery Club has 6.9 million In the next two years, the service will be able to redistribute at least 30% of the audience.

Experts believe that food delivery from cafes and restaurants is quite a competitive market, many of them fail, for example, X5 Group was forced to close its Okolo aggregator due to the unpopularity of the service.

The other day, VK and Sber started looking for a buyer for Russia's largest food delivery service, Delivery Club, which could be Yandex. The parties are discussing the deal in parallel with Yandex's upcoming sale of media assets - Novosti and Zen services.

Yandex, as reported, can trade Delivery Club for its projects if both current owners are ready to leave the company as a result of the deal.

At the end of June, Yandex.Food announced the creation of premium delivery from restaurants. A separate section will appear within the main app, its working name is Ultima. The pilot project is scheduled to be launched in central Moscow at the end of August.

At first, about 40 restaurants will join the project, some of them previously not working for delivery. To connect to the service, establishments must meet certain criteria: a high average check, the presence of awards, the popularity of the chef and the signature cuisine.
