The next president of the United States, Donald Trump, demanded that the BRICS countries commit to not creating an alternative to the dollar. Otherwise, according to the politician, the States will introduce 100% customs duties.

“The idea that the BRICS countries are trying to move away from the dollar while we stand by and watch is over. “We demand from these countries a commitment not to create a new BRICS currency or support any other currency to replace the powerful US dollar,” Trump wrote on his X account.
Otherwise, the future head of the United States stated, the BRICS countries will have to face 100% tariffs and “say goodbye to sales to the wonderful American economy.”
Trump added that any country that tries to replace the US dollar in international trade “must say goodbye to the United States.”
In November, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the BRICS countries had decided to start developing an alternative payment mechanism “in case of aggressive use of the dollar.” According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision was “the key result of the Russian presidency” in the organization.
