The regulator stated that GEDI archives contained confidential information about individuals. Transferring this data to OpenAI to train AI models could violate privacy rules, which could lead to “sanctions.”

GEDI clarified that its partnership with OpenAI, announced in September, does not involve the sale or transfer of personal data. The collaboration is still in the planning stages and involves ongoing discussions with regulators, the company said.
