The facility will produce chips for various sectors, including the automotive, industrial and mobile sectors. According to NXP representatives, it is planned to expand production in the future and move on to the second phase of the project, which can be implemented by 2030. This reflects the company’s desire to expand production capacity in Asia due to increased risks associated with possible supply disruptions from Taiwan.
The $7.8 billion project will create employment for 1,500 people and start production in 2027. Although the chips to be produced at the new facility are different from the most advanced chips produced in Taiwan, they still play a key role in products such as electric cars and smartphones.
