The campus of a school of digital technologies from Sber was opened in Nizhny Novgorod, located in the former building of Intel Corporation. This project, known as “School 21”, offers free training in in-demand IT professions to anyone over the age of 18 after passing the qualifying stage. Sberbank president German Gref emphasized that the school offers 14 different specialties and that there are plans to expand the program in the near future, especially in the field of microelectronics development.
The campus and IT center are located on Turgenev Street, in the building where Intel previously worked. Gref noted that despite the departure of Intel, competencies in the IT sector in Nizhny Novgorod did not disappear, on the contrary, they continued and developed. He added that talented and motivated people from different parts of the region can come and receive free education at School 21.
There are currently 15 School 21 campuses operating in Russia, and Nizhny Novgorod became one of them. The school is designed for 200 workstations, it is planned to admit 900 people annually through qualifying stages, 200 of whom will study in the main programs. The first qualifying phase started on December 2, 2024, and 220 people participated, 84% of whom were from Nizhny Novgorod and the rest from neighboring regions. Not only young people, but also representatives of various professional groups such as lawyers, tourists, artists and builders showed interest in learning.
