Rahman states that the new feature will display animated dots on the screen that simulate the movement of the car. At the same time, Apple already has a feature called Vehicle Movement Markers, which the company introduced in iOS 18. The purpose of the function is the same as Android: to help iPhone and iPad users combat motion sickness.
According to insider information, Google has managed to enable the upcoming Motion Cues feature in Play Services’ latest beta version v24.29.32; This shows that the feature is already close to completion.
Rahman said that when Motion Cues is enabled, animated black dots appear at the edge of the smartphone screen, simulating the direction in which the car is moving. In practice, this will help “reduce the sensory conflict between what you see with your eyes and the movements your brain detects with its inner sense of hearing, without significantly degrading the reading or viewing experience.”
As stated, when the new feature is offered to users, “Show on application” permission will be required for it to work. Users will be able to turn the feature on or off using Quick Settings. The functionality also includes the option of automatic activation while the vehicle is in motion.
