Production will start in the city of Lukhovitsy, Moscow Region; In the early stages of production, the company plans to produce 60 semi-trailers per year. The project will be executed in three stages: first, the company will develop technical specifications and produce isothermal superstructures. Production of chassis for semi-trailers should begin in 2025. In the third stage, the plant should master the production of axle units, after which, as production increases, the assembly of trailers will be moved to a site in the Ryazan region.
RWB now purchases trailer chassis from a plant in Velikiye Luki, a source familiar with the development of the production project told Vedomosti. An isothermal van with a length of 17 meters and a volume of 110 cubic meters was chosen as the basic superstructure. meters with air conditioning, said a representative of Wildberries & Russ. An insulated superstructure is necessary for the safe transportation of environmentally sensitive products and goods.
Producing its own semi-trailers will cost the company almost a third less than purchasing an analogue, which will save about 3 million rubles per unit of equipment, Andrei Ulyanov, head of the RWB warehouse automation department, told the newspaper. Currently the company manages 1.4 thousand semi-trailers of Russian and German production. The cost of the new semi-trailer in November this year amounted to 6.2 million rubles, the publication notes, 3% more than in 2023.
In a competitive market for semi-trailers and with relatively low prices, organizing one’s own production seems inappropriate, noted Denis Kudryavtsev, general director of the Spetsavtoprom association. The main costs of RWB can come from the production of insulating sandwich panels, since a production line of such components can cost up to one million euros.
Previously, RWB launched its network of gas stations for internal use by drivers, and later by the company’s partners. Gas stations will be located on the territory of Wildberries logistics centers.
