AWS began building its first data centers in Ohio in 2016 and now operates in two central counties in the state, including the capital, Columbus. The new investment will allow the company to expand its data centers, but specific locations have not yet been announced. AWS said the plans are contingent on securing long-term energy supply agreements.
The new data centers will include servers, storage devices, networking equipment and other technologies used for cloud computing, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, company representatives said.
