Microsoft has released a feature that allows you to Windows 11 with subtitles and real-time translation for your videos. Live subtitles use Copilot’s artificial intelligence to instantly translate any video. This technology can be used in video calls or even in local files that you have saved on your hard drive.
The tech giant has announced that live subtitles and real-time translation are now available in Windows 11. If you have a Copilot+ PC with an Intel, AMD or Snapdragon processor, you will be able to access this feature, which capable of translating 44 languages, including Spanish. Live subtitles help bridge the communication gap between people speaking a different language.
Real-time translation is one area that big tech companies have been exploring for years. Although important advances have been recorded in services such as Google Translate or Skype itself, the truth is that the advent of AI has accelerated research. We’ve recently seen experiments with Google Glass and Copilot that allow you to add subtitles to the speaker.
“We’re starting to roll out the ability to translate more than 44 languages into English with live captioning, including speakers during live video calls, recordings, and streaming content,” Microsoft said in a Windows blog post. “Real-time translation extends to AMD and Intel-based Copilot+ PCs with English as the primary language.”
Although This feature is only available for English computers. During the testing phase, its launch will include Spanish. In case Co-pilot+ PC Thanks to the Snapdragon processor, Windows will be able to translate in real time into Chinese and support English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and other languages.
How Windows subtitles and real-time translation work
According to an entry posted on Microsoft’s support website, live subtitles can provide translation and convert any audio passing through your computer into subtitles in your language.
Microsoft mentions that everything audio processing and subtitle creation from detected voice data done on the device. This feature uses the AI co-processor present in the Copilot+ PC and the data never leaves the device and is never uploaded to the cloud.


If you have a compatible computer and want to activate it, there are several ways to access it.
- Click the battery, network, or volume icon on the taskbar to open Windows Quick Settings and turn on Live Captions.
- Press the keyboard shortcut Victory + Ctrl + L
- Turn on the Live Captions toggle button in the Quick Settings Availability pop-up menu.
- Select Home > All Apps > Accessibility > Live Captions.
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Closed Captioning and turn on the Live Captions switch.
