“The evidence in the report is clear: Organizations need more secure products, not more security products. If organizations want to avoid a multitude of sophisticated attacks in the future, they need to move away from outdated solutions and approaches designed for the desktop age,” said Alberto Zafani, head of Google Workspace Brazil.

Incidents are increasing

Google’s research also shows this: Companies face more cyber incidents as they invest in more solutions. Although 96% of respondents are confident about their security posture, 81% report at least one attack per year.

Organizations with 10 or more security tools were hit the hardest, as they recorded more incidents than those with fewer than 10 security tools. For 71% of leaders, outdated technology has left them less prepared to face future cyberattacks.

The research, which was conducted with the participation of more than 2 thousand decision makers in Brazil, the USA, India and the UK between July 22 and August 8 this year, also revealed that the average cost of a data breach is 4.45 million US dollars in 2023. , equivalent to R$ 27.5 million at the current price.
