According to Ermolaeva, latent stress is difficult to define, but it can manifest itself in the cognitive sphere, including impairment of memory, thinking or imagination.

Physically, latent stress can manifest itself as excessive muscle and eye tension, hair loss, sleep disturbances or changes in appetite.

“It manifests itself at different levels: physical, emotional, behavioral, cognitive. This means that memory, thinking, imagination and other skills may gradually deteriorate. On a physical level, this may include excessive muscle tension, eye strain, hair loss, increased heart rate, shortness of breath, general stiffness, trouble sleeping, or changes in appetite. Even toothaches and headaches can be signs of stress. Emotionally this will be decreased mood, but not sadness or apathy as in depression,” the psychologist noted.
