NSU Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Fedoruk said that the project will be actively developed in the coming years. He stated that the university will focus on advanced fields such as artificial intelligence, neural networks, machine learning, as well as medicine and biotechnology, synchrotron-neutron research, space instrumentation and developments for the oil and gas industry. Laboratories and research centers specialized in these areas are already operating.

Within the scope of the updated project, NSU also plans to put into operation new laboratories that will work in the infrastructure of the new university campus.
