“The service will analyze the reasons for the increase in prices for Packaging Systems JSC products, information about which previously appeared in the media,” said a representative of the service.

If the increase is considered unfounded, the FAS “will check the company’s actions for signs of violation of antitrust legislation,” the press service assured.

Previously Kommersant, citing a letter from the company, wrote that Packaging Systems intends to increase prices for its products by 9% to 22% starting in January 2025. The company cited the weakening of the ruble exchange rate and the costs associated with the import of imported materials to Russia as the reason for the price increase.

The newspaper’s interlocutors in the market stated that the companies consider the planned increase unfounded. A representative of Packaging Systems explained to the publication that indexation is associated with an increase in the cost of raw materials, mainly cardboard, whose participation in packaging can reach up to 70%. He stressed that at the end of 2024 the variation in value did not exceed official inflation, which amounted to 5-9%.
