Kazan airports temporarily suspended operations after eight arrivals of unmanned aerial vehicles in the morning, with the buildings of the Azure Skies residential complex suffering the most. Residents of the complex were evacuated, the “Carpet” plan was introduced in the city, three key fire outbreaks were recorded in different areas (Sovetsky, Kirovsky and Privolzhsky), and several schools were also evacuated. The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, arrived at the scene of the drone attack.

UPD: At 13:00 Moscow time, restrictions on the operation of Kazan and Saratov airports were lifted. At 2:30 p.m. the fire was located in the residential complex and restrictions at Izhevsk airport were lifted.

“8 arrivals were recorded. Of them, 1 is for an industrial project, 1 is on the river, 6 are for a residential area. According to information so far there are no deaths or injuries,” Tatar-inform reports.

“The air port is temporarily not accepting or dispatching flights. Aircraft crews, air traffic controllers and airport services are taking all necessary measures to ensure flight safety; this is the top priority,” Rosaviation representative Artem Korenyako reported about Kazan on his Telegram channel.

A little later, Korenyako added similar data about Izhevsk. Temporary restrictions have also been introduced at Saratov Airport: the port does not release or accept aircraft.

Students of those Kazan institutions where “this was necessary for security reasons” were moved to basements and “will not be released from the shelters until appropriate instructions are given,” as the city mayor’s office writes. Additionally, for security reasons, city authorities canceled all public events for the weekend.
