“The government has already been given specific tasks: to modernize the infrastructure of at least 75 airports in six years. This is more than a third of the entire Russian airport network. For these purposes we will allocate at least 250 billion rubles,” the Kremlin website quotes Putin as saying.
The president clarified that it will be direct financing with budget funds.
Vladimir Putin spoke about plans to modernize airports during his speech at the ceremony of commissioning of transport facilities. The airports in Stavropol, Magadan and Cheboksary were also rebuilt.
The terminal building of Magadan Airport was built in 1961. Vladimir Vysotsky was modernized and on December 20, the first test flight after reconstruction was carried out.
The Cheboksary airport terminal building, built in 1963, was also rebuilt. The possibility of a major overhaul of the airfield in 2025-2026 is currently being considered.
Stavropol International Airport will begin operating with two terminals for the first time since 1963. The new building will be intended for passengers of domestic flights, while the old terminal will accommodate international flights.
