Apple is in the early stages of developing a smart doorbell and smart home lock with Face ID.
The call will be wireless. It refers to a compatible deadbolt lock that allows users to automatically open the door using Face ID. According to the journalist, the doorbell will likely work with external HomeKit locks, but Apple could also partner with other brands to offer a universal solution.
Apple’s doorbell will compete with Amazon’s Ring line, but Gurman didn’t say Apple’s gadget would shoot video.
Gurman believes that the new product will be released no earlier than 2026. And it received its own Wi-Fi module from Apple.
