Roskomnadzor summarized data leaks for 11 months of 2024. The agency recorded 127 cases of distribution of databases containing more than 680 million records. The press service noted that such cases remain a serious threat and companies need to implement protective measures more actively.
In November, a law was signed that increases liability for personal data leaks. Roskomnadzor believes that the new measures will force organizations to pay more attention to the protection of information. The need to revise industry standards for data processing and the regulatory framework for their collection is currently being discussed, said department head Andrei Lipov.
According to the ministry, these initiatives will help minimize the risk of leaks in the future. Roskomnadzor representatives called on businesses to take a more conscious approach when working with personal information and reminded them that security systems should be checked regularly.
