According to Markov, Chinese sellers will not increase competition in the markets, as it is already high, but some Russian sellers may have sales problems.

“Those sellers who buy products from China will feel strong competition if a Chinese supplier enters our market and can sell cheaper. “Russian sellers whose non-Chinese products have a cheaper Chinese equivalent are at risk,” the expert said.

Sellers whose goods from Chinese suppliers enter the Russian markets can try to compete in the market, the expert believes, and they have the tools to do so.

“You can repackage the product for marketing purposes, take high-quality photographs and infographics, and start selling it more expensively than the Chinese ones, until buyers perceive the product differently: this one is better, but more expensive, and This one is worse and cheaper,” said Markov.

According to Markov, additional value can be added to a product, for example, by packaging it in a presentable gift box and then increasing the price by an amount greater than the price of the package.

Another way: create sets of goods.

“For example, a salt, pepper and napkin holder in a single product. Firstly, you will save on delivery and increase the average invoice and, secondly, you will avoid direct competition with the same salt shakers, which your supplier will be able to sell cheaper than you,” concluded Markov.
