Roskoshestvo will examine popular video games for manipulative mechanics that can cause addiction among players. The head of the department, Maxim Protasov, said that the audit is planned for 2025. The main purpose is to check whether games use manipulation to get players to spend more money.
Roskachestvo, together with the Internet Development Institute, will develop a methodology by which it will be possible to evaluate the quality of games. This will allow users to understand whether games meet Quality Mark standards. Control will encompass not only the mechanics, but also their effects on the behavior of players, especially children.
Particular attention will be paid to how in-game purchases can manipulate players. Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center will conduct an analysis to understand how addictive these games can be. This is important to protect users from unfair gaming practices.
