What else can happen if you grab a cat or dog by the scruff of the neck:

- spinal cord injury: important nerve endings are located in the cervical region of pets;
- Respiratory disorder: When the skin on the animal’s neck is stretched, the animal’s airways are compressed;
— fear: grasping the neck is perceived as a threat by a dog or cat;
- broken trust: If you constantly hold your pet by the neck, it will stop trusting you;
- aggression: the animal may begin to show aggression towards humans.
