Disassembly showed that the dimensions of the 16 GB CXMT DDR5 matrix are 68.06 mm²; this was 40% larger than the similar Samsung matrix, which was only 48.90 mm². Large mold sizes increase production costs, which puts CXMT at a disadvantage.
Reviewers note that CXMT technology is “comparable to previous generations,” even though major players such as Samsung, Micron, and SK hynix have improved DDR5 production since 2021.
It remains unclear whether CXMT will be able to attract buyers at competitive prices.
