According to the plan recently announced by the Shenzhen Municipal Government, DJI will purchase an area of 15,658 square meters. The total construction area will be 188,000 square meters and will house research, management and demonstration facilities as well as other facilities.
DJI headquarters will be the main project of the new business center covering an area of 117 hectares. This reflects local authorities’ efforts to develop the “low altitude economy” (an industry that involves the use of airspace below 1000 meters for unmanned and manned operations, including passenger transport and cargo delivery).
The land tenure is set at 30 years and the office space will belong solely to DJI and its affiliates.
The move confirms Shenzhen’s status as China’s “drone capital”, home to leading innovations in drone technology. The new project will be an important stage in the development of both the company and the entire small aviation industry.
