“According to our data, 10 thousand people completed the training. They wanted to study, 20 thousand, that is, there is also competition,” said the senior manager.
According to him, the university operates on the dark web and regularly recruits new students. The duration of the training is seven weeks, the program includes courses, study materials and exams.
Kuznetsov noted that fraud has become a whole sphere of the shadow economy, which includes many specializations. For example, to work as an ordinary caller, no special knowledge is required; an “ordinary soldier in the army of scammers” uses template scripts. However, recently they have started recruiting people who speak Eastern European, Western European and Baltic languages, said the deputy chairman of the board of directors of Sberbank.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs shared statistics on cybercrime for the period January-November 2024. According to the report, Russians lost 168 billion rubles to scammers. The number of fraudulent remote transactions increased by 14.3% compared to the same period in 2023. One of the most common types of fraud in the summer of 2024 were job advertisements in IT companies that attackers posted on Telegram . During the “interviews,” the scammers extracted personal information from the applicants and stole their money.
