Beating Jeff Bezos, space company Blue Origin successfully launched the 98-meter-tall New Glenn rocket.
The main goal of the flight was to launch the payload into orbit. The device used was a 20-ton prototype of the Blue Ring Pathfinder device.
During the flight, Blue Origin lost the first stage of the rocket after it separated. She was supposed to return to Earth and land on a platform in the Atlantic Ocean, but during the landing there was no communication with her in the morning.
Our main goal today is safe entry into orbit. Everything next is the icing on the cake. We know that landing a booster on our first attempt on the Atlantic shelf is an ambitious task, but we are getting there. Whatever happens, we will learn, improve and apply this knowledge to the next launch.

The New Glenn rocket has been in development for almost 10 years. It belongs to the class of super-heavy rockets and is designed to deliver cargo into space using a reusable launch platform.
At the moment, only SpaceX rockets perform such a mission, but Blue Origin is its main competitor. Today’s launch proved that the company’s technology works. [The Verge]
