iPhone users in Russia began to complain about problems with eSIM, Kommersant reports.
At a certain point, the iPhone loses connection, first on the eSIM and then on the physical SIM card. The problem can only be corrected at a service center by replacing the eSIM module.
Kommersant found “40 not a single complaint in January 2025 alone,” communications from T-Mobile subscribers, although there are individual messages from clients of other operators.
We are addressing isolated issues between customers with iPhones equipped with eSIMs connected to carriers, including our subscribers.
T-Mobile
A T-Mobile representative said that the company transferred data about the firmware and model of faulty devices to Apple. However, “the corporation of technical specialists has not yet formed a suitable position regarding the causes of the malfunction, but has recognized the problem and, if necessary, replaces or repairs phones in their service centers after diagnosis.”
Other operators said they have not seen widespread complaints about the operation of eSIM in iPhones. We were unable to find confirmation of complaints from iPhone owners about eSIM malfunctions or problems with virtual SIM cards.
In addition, it remains unclear what kind of service repair we are talking about. The warranty period for devices officially sold in Russia has already expired, and new iPhone models are not officially serviced by authorized service centers. [Коммерсантъ]
