The “pirate” accomplished the flashing by soldering the modified chips onto the motherboards of used consoles. It refurbished old consoles to run unlicensed games, and sets of 27 pirated games were also supplied with these products.
The man pleaded guilty and is cooperating with the investigation. During the investigation, 4 used consoles were seized from the person’s possession.
According to Japanese media reports, this is the first such case. And this speaks of serious consequences for other modifiers.
