A Hong Kong company has decided to register in Russia the brands of the Vulcan gaming hall chain, which has ceased its activities. The corresponding applications were submitted to Rospatent in January by the company Harbor Peak IP Management Limited, RB.RU found out. Currently, some of the brands belong to the Cypriot Dareos.

We are talking, in particular, about the brands “Vulcan”, Vulkan and Vulkanbet, as well as the emblems of gaming clubs and casinos. Registration is carried out on a wide range of ICGS, including games of chance, lotteries and entertainment. The release of consumer goods and services to the population under the specified brands is also being formalized.
In the 2000s, Vulcan arcades were owned by billionaire Oleg Boyko’s Ritzio Entertainment group. His holding Finstar RB.RU stated that the businessman’s structures have no relationship with the registration of these brands.

According to him, the first signs of Vulcan were registered between 2000 and 2002 in the name of Firm Bars LLC. Its legal successor in 2011 was Vulcan Gaming Clubs LLC. After 2010, the brands were transferred through a chain of foreign companies registered in offshore companies.

Igunov added that online casino activities are illegal in Russia, so the applicant has no legal basis to use and protect trademarks in Russia in relation to online casinos. But Vulcan can exist as a casino if the company registers a legal entity in Russia, receives a license to carry out gaming activities and operates casinos in specially organized gaming zones. This will require registering a company in Russia or issuing licenses to use the brand to existing Russian companies with a gaming license, the lawyer said.
He noted that the list of registered and applied for trademarks is extremely broad; Typically such trademarks are registered so that others cannot produce products of a well-known brand, regardless of whether they are associated with a casino or not.
