Allegedly inadequate measures to block illegal content on Telegram, Durov assured the court that the company had improved its moderation efforts. He said Telegram deletes 15 to 20 million accounts every month for violating the law. Durov noted that other social networks are facing similar problems.

During the trial, judges asked Durov about the widespread dissemination of illegal content, including drugs, bank data and illegal “children’s material”. Durov said Telegram takes these issues seriously, promptly removes harmful content and cooperates with child protection organizations. He admitted that he learned about all these problems during his detention.

Over the past six months, Telegram has cooperated with law enforcement authorities, providing 10,000 user data records worldwide.

Durov is currently under judicial custody in France and must report to the police station twice a week.
