“I left Gloria,” Basov said in a conversation with RB.RU. The senior manager did not reveal details.
As reported by Kommersant citing sources, Basov left the company on January 13, making way for Alexander Tarasov. Both senior managers previously worked at Rusagro. According to one of the publication’s interlocutors, the owner of Gloria Jeans, Vladimir Melnikov, and Basov probably had different views on business management.
The former CEO remains a co-owner of the company: Basov headed Gloria Jeans in June 2024 and in September received 1% of VVM Investments LLC, which owns Gloria Jeans. This action may later pass to the main owner of the company or the new general director, Kommersant said.
Basov actively leads his own business projects. As RB.RU wrote, in November Maxim Basov registered an individual entrepreneur whose main activity was the management of computer equipment. Basov has been involved in the IT business for several years, owns shares in the online brain training service Vikium LLC, as well as Litnet LLC and Geomiragro LLC, whose activities are related to software development.
In December, Gloria Jeans announced plans to close a clothing production workshop in Salsk, Rostov Region, and also announced plans to reduce prices for clothing and footwear by 30%.
In 2023, the company’s revenue amounted to 78 billion rubles, an increase of 11% compared to 2022. Gloria Jeans’ net profit last year increased to 9.6 billion rubles, the press service reported from the retailer.
