For the new RTX 50XX series, the company updated the design of the power connector (12V-2 × 6), which, according to brand representatives, completely solved the problem.
The issue of reliability of the connector was raised in the Q&A sessions, since the power of the new maps will reach 575 watts, which is 125 watts more than that of the RTX 4090.
Nvidia explained that the cause of past problems was incorrect connection of connectors, especially using adapters from third-party manufacturers. If the connector was not fully inserted, this led to overheating and leakage.
The updated design of the connector, at the request of the company, has undergone serious changes and testing over the past two years. Now users can no longer worry about overheating.
