Rosseti wants to coordinate the placement of cryptocurrency mining centers in Russian regions, where a decrease in energy consumption is set. This follows from the letter of the head of the state company Andrei Ryumin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, with whom Kommersant met. Receipt of the letter was confirmed by the newspaper’s source in the government.

Ryumin indicated that Rossetei has information on the availability of free electric grid capacities, since the state retention works in almost all subjects of the country. According to the newspaper’s source, the question was sent to the Ministry of Energy for study. The ministry did not respond to a request from Kommersant.
On January 1, on the territory of several regions, including Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia, a ban on mining was introduced against the background of the aggravation of local energy deficiency. Ryumin in a letter to Mishustin noted that Rosseti, on the contrary, records a decrease in energy consumption in individual territories, which leads to the appearance of unclaimed grid energy and a local increase in the cost of maintaining infrastructure .
The head of Rossetei proposed stimulating demand for electricity there, establishing special tariffs for consumers, including miners. Ryumin claims that these measures optimize the loading of existing capacities and increase tariff revenues from electricity networks, “avoiding additional tariff growth for other consumers.”
In the Rossethei, Kommersant said that the issues of state participation in mining development and the use of instruments to stimulate demand in low-load centers are being discussed. The introduction of a separate tariff, confirmed in the state company, is considered. “Rossetti” “Interesting development of mining”, as it will contribute to “the use of free energy, increase the load on energy centers”, as well as “an increase in tariff revenues from state holding, the development of the economy and The growth of tax payments,” noted the press service.
The Director of the Industrial Mining Association, Sergei Nerdelov, called the appointment of the largest power grid company responsible for making a decision on which mining objects are, “violation of the principles of competition and discrimination.” The miners themselves, according to the expert, are ready to participate in the study of the proposal for the installation of reduced tariffs for the transfer when joining the unloaded food centers.
Cryptocurrencies in Russia were legalized on November 1 thanks to the law that Vladimir Putin signed in August. Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs included in the appropriate register of the federal tax service can engage in mining. Evils can mine cryptocurrencies without entering the list, but within the framework of the limits established by the government.
