“The standard aims to adapt the infrastructure of hosting facilities for guests who pass their vacations with their pets,” Tass quotes Mikhaleva.
The standard takes into account the wishes of a comfortable stay for guests with and without pets. For now, the document is a voluntary certification (after which the hotels will have a special Pet Friendly poster), and the requirements refer to the number of rooms, information, organization of public areas, availability of services and personnel training.
In the list of requirements, specifically, we find the following elements:
- Pet guests should complete a special form.
- The veterinary passport of the pet is required,
- In the reception and accommodation zone there must be drinks with drinking water for animals,
- It is necessary to provide beds in the rest and wait area,
- There must be an area to walk in the territory or nearby,
- The rooms must have enough space for pets,
- Water and food bowls, cleaning bags,
- The personnel must comply with the rules of animal handling and the health, hygienic and basic veterinarians.
Other services are only “recommended”, but not mandatory: for example, “petter”, walk, spa, toilet, etc.
In the development of the norm, the Union of Public Cinological Organizations participated: the Canine Federation of Russia, the Center for the Study of Animal Nutrition and Welfare, the “Four Paws” companies, “Dog City”, TGC “Vega” and The Association of People. with allergic diseases and atopic dermatitis.
In the future, the project authors plan to transfer the standard to the Gost State, whose proposal is included in the National Standardization Plan for 2025.
