According to them, the company’s specialists tested the Internet iPhone connection from Starlink, and the iOS update that has been published on Monday already includes support for this technology.

Previously, T-Mobile subscribers could connect to Starlink only on Samsung smartphones. In turn, Apple already provides users with the opportunity to send text messages and contact emergency services, which are out of the cellular area.

According to Bloomberg, this week T-Mobile conducted a Starlink test on the iPhone between a limited number of users. The latter received a message from the operator: “You participate in the Beta test of T-Mobile Starlink. You can now keep in touch by sending an SMS through a satellite from almost anywhere. To start using an expanded coating, update iOS to version 18.3.

Musk commented on the news on the social network X, noting that with Starlink you can now load images of average resolution, music and podcasts. In the future, the connection with Starlink will allow you to see the “video in average resolution,” promised Spacex chief. For the first time, Musk announced the plans to try Starlink on smartphones on January 24.

Now Starlink on iPhone is only available in the US. Apple rejected comments. T-Mobile confirmed that innovations tests “will begin with chosen optimized smartphones”, and the complete launch “will admit the vast majority of modern smartphones.”
