Striking Distance Studios announced that: The Callisto protocol will not be published in Japan because the game has not achieved CERO certification (the equivalent of our PEGI). The announcement came via Twitter with a comment explaining that the game did not meet the requirements of the rating body and therefore cannot be marketed in Japan.

They are not mentioned in the tweet the reasons for which the CERO rejected Striking Distance Studios’ proposal, but we can assume the game as t . Was considereddamn roppo due to the presence of splatter elements and extremely violent scenes. The fact is that the team does not want to compromise: in the tweet, the team even stated that it would rather cancel the Japanese version than change the game experience. Finally, Striking Distance has ensured that all currently active pre-orders are refunded.

The Callisto protocol is available from Dec 2, 2022 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | s.
