“Recently, we really see the next increase in the myth over the digital ruble. At the same time, the main channel for the distribution of such information is the message bulletin in instant messagers and social networks, ”said the representative of the Central Bank. He pointed out that the authors of the messages, to cause readers’ confidence, “try to strengthen their texts with several extracts of normative laws or acts,” but are not related to a digital ruble or are torn from the context.
The Central Bank recalled that the digital ruble will act as one of the forms of the national vascular, in addition to cash and money, and the decision to use the digital ruble will remain with a specific person.
According to RBC, bulletins have recently become more frequent in social networks and messengers, which encourages to avoid the use of digital rubles and write negative to connect them. The authors of the publications scare the Russians for the fact that the transition to the digital rubles will be forced and will lead to limiting expenses.
The Central Bank called the plans to use a forced digital ruble and refuse to use cash with “another myth that is not true.”
A pilot project was launched with a digital ruble in August 2023. Now, operations with this form of proof mode are carried out by Sber, VTB, Alfa-Bank, T-Bank, Promsvyazbank, Soskombank, Rosselkhozbank, Gazprombank and other credit organizations.
In early January, participants in the financial market informed RBC that several banks considered the hurried introduction of a digital ruble in July and proposed to postpone the launch date of 2026.
