The tunnel will be more than 3,000 miles (4,828 km) long and will take many years to complete. By comparison, the 37km tunnel between England and France took six years to build.

True, the feasibility of the project is facilitated by advances in vacuum tube technology. By creating a gap in the tunnel, trains will be able to reach incredible speeds and travel time between London and New York can be reduced to under an hour. This HyperLoop-like design will make transatlantic travel much faster and greener than flying.

Elon Musk supported this idea. He believes the tunnel could be built for less money with the help of the Boring Company, claiming they could do it for “1000 times less money.”
