The internal records of discs with production up to 50,000 hours were changed to appear without being used. Seagate rejects its participation and conducts an investigation. The company also introduced a tool to help customers check whether their hard drives are really new.
Injured buyers around the world are still reporting such used discs, especially in Europe, Australia, Thailand and Japan. Some retail sellers offer refund and replacement, while others insist on checking disks before paying compensation to customers.
