MTS in April 2023 plans to close a deal to buy more than 50% in the developer of solutions in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) for transport “Project Environment”. The amount of the transaction is estimated at 1.5-2 billion rubles.
The purchase of the company could allow MTS to increase revenues in the mobile data segment, as after the acquisition the provider will only use the operator’s services and not other telecom operators, Kommersant learned.
Experts called the deal to buy the company a logical addition to other MTS companies in the field of IoT and telematics, but note that the demand for such solutions now depends on factors unrelated to the telecom business. .
MTS declined to comment and Project Environment did not respond to the post’s request.
