The general director of the Instagram social network (belongs to the recognized and prohibited extremist in the goal of the Russian Federation) Adam Moseri announced the beginning of testing a new function. Thanks to the “design mechanism” of the comments, users can now express their attitude not only to publications, but also to the statements of other users under them.

Instagram allowed the appearance of the function of the private “diesel engines” to comment

An important difference between this function and the analogues in other social networks, such as Mosseri writes, is that discontent will be expressly expressed by comments. The number of “Dislasts” will not be displayed, the authors of the publications will not discover who establishes them exactly.

Signals on undesirable or irrelevant comments, therefore, will not affect dialogue in the network, will not lead to growth. It is only that these data will form the basis for the classification of comments, by analogy with a mechanism that is already used, for example, in the Reddit social network.

The comments that have collected the “Dizlaiks” will be falling into the broadcast, and the most popular statements will be shown first. In what is forbidden in the Russian Federation, Meta read that this update “will improve the quality of discussions in the comments.”

As Kommersant remembers, previously on Instagram they tested the ability to “leave” the system of recommendations to issue publications on the tape, and also added an option to create digital copies with AI.
