Murata President Norio Noro Nakadzima said that customers want to produce outside Japan. Currently, approximately 60% of the multi -layered ceramic capacitors (MLCC) produced by the company are produced in Japan. However, in the coming years, this indicator may drop to 50%.
Apple has already begun to expand the production outside China and started the test production of AirPods headphones in India. Following this, Chinese manufacturers of the mid -price segment’s smartphones are planning to build factories in the country that makes India attractive for Murata.
The company rented a production facility at the Onehub Chennai Industry Park in Tamilada. Since 2026, the capacitor has been planning to pack and send it. The first investment in the project will be 1 billion yen (6.6 million dollars) and MURATA will examine the expectations for the possible construction of a full -fly facility.
Nakajima emphasized that there is not enough advanced infrastructure in India to completely transfer production. However, Murata tries to prepare power to quickly respond to the growth of demand and possible state incentives.
Unlike India, the company has not yet taken into account the construction of factories in the United States, because most of its products have been used on devices collected in Asia. However, the US’s possible tariff restrictions continue to be a risk factor.
