After the collapse of the two oil tankers with oil products: Volgonft 212 and Volgonft 239 in mid -December 2024 in the Kerch Strait, a fuel oil spill. Around 2.4 thousand tons of oil products fell into the sea and on the coast.

As a result, the coast of the resorts of the territory of Krasnodar and Crimea suffered, fuel spots were also discovered on the coast of the Azov Sea. Cases of death of marine animals and birds were also reported. In the regions, an emergency mode was introduced. At the end of January, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated 1,500 million rubles to the territory of Krasnodar to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.

In the territory of Krasnodar, the authorities now need to verify on 139 beaches, said Savelyev. According to him, the administration of the Krasnodar territory received instructions to replace the contaminated sand on the beach. Rospotrebnadzor believes that this is the only way to put the beaches in order. Service specialists must consult the beaches until March 1.

On February 17, about 358 km from the coast were eliminated: the employees of the Ministry of Emergency and Volunteers gathered 186,500 tons of contaminated sand and land, of which more than 185,000 tons left in the territory of Krasnodar.
