The State Duma has finally adopted a law that will prohibit electronic learning distance in medical and pharmaceutical education programs. The prohibition aims to improve the quality of medical care, said the president of the low house Vyacheslav Volodin on Telegram.

According to him, “the level of training of medical workers who have received new qualifications based on the results of only online courses”, and “people who will not provide the necessary assistance in time can suffer this can be in doubt.”
An exception will be the cases in which electronic learning or distance is determined by federal educational standards. The law is assigned to the development and approval of additional professional medical education programs for the Ministry of Health.
The medical education institutions must receive the conclusions of Roszdravnadzor about the appropriate staff and logistics availability, and additional professional medical training will be subject to licenses by types of programs.
Context. Previously, the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that in Russia there is a lack of around 23.3 thousand doctors and 63.6 thousand average medical staff. According to the official, many older doctors left medicine after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
