In people living in areas with more often heat cases, scientists have discovered accelerated biological aging. In other words, the cells are literally faster than those living in cool areas. More details are mentioned in an article published in Science Advances magazine.
As part of a new study, experts used blood samples from 3679 participants aged 56 years and older. All these people were included in national work and retirement.
Phoenix and Tuson in the south of Arizona were the hottest regions of Miami and Tampa in Florida as well as Browsville and Laredo in the south of Texas. The people living there were biologically older than 14 months compared to the participants in the regions with less than 10 hot days a year.
