In an interview with IGN, the Senior Vice President of ESA Obri Quinn said that tariffs will affect all devices from games and PCs for consoles and VR haliations.
Tariffs are taxes on the import of goods that Trump introduces to “protect the American economy”. Since many components are produced abroad, including China and Vietnam, they will reach game equipment prices. Quinn said that even American companies such as Microsoft are dependent on international materials and the increase in costs will inevitably affect consumers. “It is hard to imagine a world where such tariffs will not affect prices,” he said.
ESA warns that the increase in equipment price can reduce sales, reach companies’ income and slow down the development of new games.
