Scientists of Kamchatka State University presented a new robot called Dima, which aims to work with children suffering from autistic spectrum disorders. This robot is equipped with a system that allows you to install and adapt training programs depending on the needs of each child. A feature of development is the ability to objectively evaluate the effectiveness of classes using the function of collection of statistics.
The DIMA robot has an educational content designer that enables teachers and psychologists to create and change tests without including programmers. This makes the device suitable for use in different institutions such as schools and psychological aid centers. A significant portion of the robot is the function of automatic data collection: the program monitors the dynamics of completed tasks, accuracy of the answers and the progress of the child correctly.
The development team sees each work as a diagnostic cycle with a robot. After one month of classes, you can see if there is progress, and if the results are positive, the work continues and they seek other approaches when there is no improvements. In the future, scientists plan to approve the robot as an educational guide and to include training robotics in the psychologist preparation program.
