In the new facility, chips will be produced according to the process of 7 nm and above, including Mobile Kirin and Ascend AI chips, which are currently in great demand in China. The company will be part of the cluster of semiconductor companies near PXW and PST facilities – both are already part of the Huawei supply chain.
The facility will not directly belong to the Chinese brand: partners such as Sicarrier and Swayure will be checked. However, the Huawei will finance the project, send managers and technical teams to create a vertically integrated ecosystem from design to mass production.
The launch is planned next year. This is the answer to SMIC’s inability to meet the increasing demand – Huawei receives millions of orders for Ascend and scaling has become critical.
